Meet Jo!

Registered Nutritional Therapist DipCNM, mBANT, rCNHC

My health story begins in 2014, where I went from leading a normal life to becoming bed bound in a matter of weeks. I experienced a debilitating list of symptoms; overwhelming fatigue, cognitive issues, digestive upset, flu symptoms, sensitivities, insomnia and more.

My health continued to deteriorate and I was unable to talk, read, tolerate sound or move from my bed. I had to return to my parents to be cared for. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and was told I should expect to spend the rest of my life with these symptoms.

I started doing tiny bits of research when the energy allowed and realised there was some hope and recovery from ME/CFS could be possible. I implemented diet and lifestyle changes and started to see glimmers of improvement that powered me forward.

As the energy grew I threw everything I had into recovery – researching, learning, experimenting and evolving.

Healing from and thriving after ME/CFS became my mission in life and I realised it was my calling to help others do the same. I studied nutrition for three years with the renowned College of Naturopathic Medicine. With a major relapse along the way my qualification took five years to complete. The setback was heartbreaking at the time but I now live with the knowledge of how to get well AND stay well, and can support others in a similar situation.

I have hit rockbottom, lost all confidence in my body and had many moments where I felt like I would never get better. But I did! By understanding and addressing the root causes of my health issues I was able to heal.

As a nutritional therapist I am registered with the British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and regulated and governed by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). My practice is insured.

bring on the science

Evidence based approach

I really love research. I am educated to Masters level and prior to being unwell my professional background was in evidence-based policy development. I bring a lot of those skills to my clinic now. I’m forever questioning the ‘why’ and using scientific research and functional testing to build a full picture. If I don’t have all the answers I deep dive again until I can get to the true cause of the issue.

I love to learn and jump at the chance of attending relevant courses and conferences that I can soak up the knowledge and pass on to my clients. Recent CPD includes BANT long covid event and IACFS/ME annual conference. I am undertaking 8 months of further training and mentoring in functional medicine with A.F.M.M.P and nutrigenomics training with Lifecode Gx practitioner programme.
