If you are new here, hello! It's been a very lon If you are new here, hello! It's been a very long time since I've done an introduction post, so hello again if you've been here a while or we've connected in the past. It's so lovely to have you here. I believe more people should be asking 'what brings you joy?' rather than 'what do you do?' as a starting intro question. I've been there with the errrrr make something up/ shock them with honesty/ healing is a full time job stock answer. These questions can bring up so much when our life feels like it is on hold due to our health. So let's get to know each other a little... I find joy in the simple pleasures of day-to-day life, witnessing the sunrise and how nature changes on the daily, learning something new, the freedom of setting off in my campervan, eating any meal I can with a spoon, the childlike wonder of growing your own food. I feel most at home in water (cold dips and leisurely afternoon baths and everything in-between), striding off on a walk along the coast path, getting lost in a fiction book, deep conversations, wrapped up cosy with my doggo and loved ones. I connect to my body with time alone, tapping, breath, intentional movement, shaking, walking, journalling, frequency all with aim of understanding what I need that day and how best to support myself (plus it's constant practice to get out of my head!) I prioritise my health, rest, balance, nervous system support, food and everything else I need to feel my best and that tops me up. If you are curious to know 'what do you do?' as well.... I'm a ME/CFS nutritionist and I help you take a root cause approach to understand why you have fatigue and provide the support and guidance you need to move your health forward and start living life again. We go gently but we bring about huge change in all areas of your life and I'm there every step of the way. BIG MOOD I've been feeling this deeply recently. BIG MOOD I've been feeling this deeply recently. Social media in particular as a place for me to get distracted, avoid my feelings, consume. My screen time was creeping up again and it's always a reflection of where I'm at with anxiety and overwhelm. I turn to scrolling to 'soothe' and it makes it so much worse, a vicious cycle to get stuck in! I broke the cycle on holiday then I've been living more intentionally since. The thing that has helped the most is drastically reducing the number of accounts I follow. For each account I asked 'would I say hello to this person if I bumped into them in the street', I don't necessarily have to know them in real life but is the impact they bring me so significant I would go up and tell them? Instagram blocks you from unfollowing too many accounts at once (surprise surprise) so you have to do this gradually. My feed is now full of posts that light me up and bring genuine joy. I'm regularly getting a message that I'm 'all caught up' - I've completed Instagram! I've seen everything that those who I've chosen to follow have posted. There are no new stories to get lost in. Turn off suggested posts while you are at it, you can only do this for a month at a time but it's possible in your settings. It's so weird to witness my need to scroll has moved onto other things, repeatedly checking the weather?! The impulse is lessening, it will ease with time and I'm prioritising other ways of feeling the feelings and connecting to what I need. I had a massive cry today, walking along the coast I had a massive cry today, walking along the coastpath looking like some wild woman with hair whipping in the wind and tears rolling down my face. I was doing some inner work yesterday about my purpose and priorities and setting intentions for the month ahead. I had a really powerful visualisation of me driving by myself in my campervan and with it came such a hit of confidence and sense of freedom. This is my priority at the moment, taking care of myself and crafting a life that brings that freedom so I am filled up and can support and share more. The visual didn't ring true as I haven’t been driving recently - making excuses, feeling like I can’t, faux ‘busyness’ so I cancel my intended trips but it’s all coming from a place of fear, lost confidence with driving and overthinking the what ifs. It popped into my head again this morning and I got a strong hit of intuition that this is what my body needs today. So here we are, I’m out for the day in my campervan, by the coast which always feels like home. Once I’m doing it, it’s actually fine. These are old stories. The tears were happy I think, a release anyway. When I am resourced my energy overflows When I am When I am resourced my energy overflows When I am supported my energy overflows When I have capacity my energy overflows When I am at peace my energy overflows Fill your cup and what overflows is yours to share When I am not living this way it most commonly shows up is a sense that I don't have the time. I don't have the time to rest, cook a nourishing meal, go for a proper walk... Time used to be a huge stressor even when I was so poorly I didn't have any commitments, literally just getting through each day but checking my watch with a sense that I was running behind. I ditched my watch and started trying to move in slow motion for the tasks I tended to rush, it worked wonders. Now 'I don't have the time' shows up in different ways and creates tension in my body so I choose to use 'I'm prioritising something else' and this can be a chance to reflect - are you repeatedly prioritising others needs above your own? Is the thing you are prioritising more important than your health?
